LOOKING FOR A LITTLE SPICY FUN? The 8th annual Salsa Festival will be held in downtown Three Rivers on Saturday, March 31 on the city square. Featuring a fantastic line-up of south Texas entertainment and a gathering of local salsa chefs vying for the title of “Salsa Champion”, the event is an area favorite. Entertainment on the Tejano stage will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a salute to the troops featuring gospel and patriotic singer Linda Couk. Other entertainment on this stage will include Remission, Mariachi L, Grupo Fusion, Elvis impersonator Henry Vasquez, Jr., Ruben Salazar & Patron, and DJ Kane and his band. Entertainment on the country/western stage will begin with the Chris Rybak show at 10:30 a.m. Around 11:30 the Brush Country Music Jamboree Band will take the stage and perform until around 5 p.m. Joe Nixon, Ricky Turpin and Bonnie Riley will play triple fiddles all afternoon. Other guest performers will be Billy Mata of San Antonio; Peter Kane, also of San Antonio; the Bailey Family of Victoria; Sally Cowen of Welfare; Daniel and Carter Hindes of Pleasanton; 11-yeear old Emily Feist of George West; Joe Malik of Three Rivers; the Sterling Barbershop Quartet of San Antonio; and comedienne Charlotte “Buelah Mae” Maples of Aqua Dulce. Other activities include vendor booths, children´s rides and games, salsa tasting and judging. The competition boasts a grand prize of $ 1000! Don´t miss the Valero Corner Store “Hotter than Salsa” Bike Ride, a grand bicycle tour of the beautiful Choke Canyon Reservoir area. There is no admission charge to the event.
